The Dean's Scholars Program is the only scholarship and development program of its kind in Queensland, making QUT a University of choice for engineers.

The Dean’s Scholars Program offers outstanding Australian and international students a scholarship to complete bachelors and masters studies in engineering.

Dean’s Scholars are recognised as the next generation of engineers, and are sought after by industry leaders.

2010 Applications open in August 2009.

The Scholarship

If you are accepted into the Dean's Scholars Program, your scholarship will give you a real head start.

The Dean’s Scholars Program offers outstanding students a scholarship to complete bachelors and masters studies in engineering, as well as opportunities to access valuable industry exposure, and mentoring.

Australian students receive a full scholarship for their entire undergraduate student contribution. International students successful in gaining entry will receive a scholarship for approximately one-third of their tuition fees. Students who complete their degree with a course grade point average of 6.0 or above and accept an offer to continue to the masters program will continue to receive scholarship benefits.

Benefits

In addition to scholarship benefits, as a Dean’s Scholar you will network with current industry leaders in a range of organised forums including:

  • company site visits with major industry players, which give you the opportunity to experience engineering environments and high-level engineering management
  • an annual leadership dinner
  • events relating to industry and associations
  • close interaction with senior academics who have strong industry links.

Some industry sponsors also offer boardroom visits, which give Dean’s Scholars the opportunity to experience engineering environments and high level engineering management.

Eligibility

The Dean's Scholars Program is specifically designed for students with outstanding academic ability and leadership potential, who are entering a Bachelor of Engineering (Dean’s Scholars Program) from Year 12 or a gap year. In 2008, the OP cut-off for the Dean's Scholars program was OP 1* (Rank 99).

Applications are considered by the Faculty and awarded on a combination of proven academic and leadership ability. Leadership ability is assessed based on submission of the Dean's Scholars Questionnaire.
