Submitting an Assignment- Guidelines on the use of Assignment Minder (AM)

  1. All written assignments must be submitted via Assignment Minder

Assignment Minder is located with the Student Computing Help Desk in Vlab - Level 2 V Block, Gardens Point campus.

  2. Your assignment must be contained appropriately, e.g. in a reusable document wallet (available from QUT Bookshop, approx $0.50, or QUT Printing Service, Level 4, V Block, approx $0.35).
  3. You must attach and secure a completed Assignment Submission Form to the front. These forms are available from the AM submission point. If you are also submitting disks, plans, drawings or folios with your assignment, please ensure that they are safely secured in the document wallet and labelled with your name, student number, unit code and lecturer's name.
  4. If your assignment cannot be contained in a document wallet, e.g. a model, your Unit Coordinator will advise you of the assignment submission procedure.
  5. Individual assignments may be submitted in the following ways:
    • personally, you will be asked to verify identity by student card or student number; or
    • by a proxy, who will be required to present either your ID card or student number together with a signed statement of authority from you for the proxy to submit that assignment.
  6. Group assignments may be submitted in the following way:
    • One group member may submit the group assignment in the same way as individual assignments are submitted. Please ensure that all group members' names and student numbers are recorded on the Assignment Submission form. It will not be necessary to complete a separate form for each group member.
  7. Written assignments cannot be submitted:
    • directly to lecturers
    • via fax
    • via post
    • via email
    • via assignment boxes
    • via Student Service counters.
  8. Assignment Minder will accept assignments only from students who are correctly enrolled.
  9. Assignments are considered submitted when their receipt has been recorded on the AM computer system and the assignment is time and date stamped.

Collecting a marked assignment

  1. Individual assignments - you will be advised, by email from AM, when your marked assignment is available for collection.
  2. Group assignments - the group member who submitted the assignment will be advised, by email from AM, when the group assignment is available for collection. The same person who submitted the group assignment must collect the assignment.
  3. Assignments will not be released back to students without proper identification. Proxies will be required to produce the student identification card or student number and a signed authority for the proxy to collect the assignment.
  4. Assignments will be held by AM for six months only, after which time they will be shredded for disposal.

Notes:

  1. If you are enrolled but undertaking a placement interstate or overseas, you will need to apply to the Unit Coordinator in advance of commencing the unit, for exemption from personal submission of assignments. In these cases, the Unit Coordinator will advise AM of the arrangement. The Unit Coordinator will assume responsibility for management of assignments. The Assignment Minder (AM) will record a non-submission.
  2. This process does not apply to assignments where the Unit Coordinator elects to, and has advised students to, use the OLT Assignment Upload facility for electronic submission.
