Applying for Advanced Standing for your second major/minor

Advanced standing (academic credit) may be granted for a BEE Faculty second major or minor(s) or Non-BEE second major or minor(s). A maximum of 48 credit points can be awarded based on equivalent 2 years full time study of a Bachelor Degree at an approved institution. If you have not completed the requirements of a full unit set, you will need to seek advice from your Course Coordinator or Subject Area Coordinator to determine the units that can be used as credit for part of the unit set and what units you need to undertake to complete the unit set.

If you are applying for advanced standing for your Non-BEE major/minor you still need to get approval for your Non-BEE option.

A Second Major/Minor Approval form must be completed and submitted to the Student Services counter. You will be advised via email if your selection is approved.

An Application for Advanced Standing should be submitted as per the usual university process. Complete and submit the AS form via the Student Centre. You will be advised via Student Business Services if your application is approved.

Enrolling with approved Advanced Standing on QV

To be enrolled correctly on QV:

  • If you have been granted the full 48 credit points towards a minor you will be automatically allocated to the correct minor code by Student Business Services. (You do not take any other action.)
  • If you have been granted credit towards units that make up a Non-BEE second major &/or minors, select either EXM - Non-BEE Major B or EXA Non-BEE Minor 1 or EXB Non-BEE Minor 2
  • If you have been granted credit towards units that make up a BEE Faculty second major &/or minors, select the respective code from the options offerred in the drop down list.

Remember, your enrolment is your responsibility. Be sure to get it right. If you have questions ask at your local BEE Student Services counter or email bee.enquiries@qut.edu.au.
