success stories in engineering

what's in the course?

Our Bachelor of Engineering degree gives you the option of gaining knowledge across a broad range of engineering units in first year before having to commit to a specialist discipline.

This means that you can get extra time to decide on your area of specialisation but still complete your degree in four years. If you already know your area of interest, however, you can start towards your preferred specialisation from your first semester.

During your first year of foundation study, you choose either the civil, mechanical or electrical stream.

Further specialisation options are available from second year onwards.

High achievers with leadership qualities applying for entry in 2009, are encouraged to submit an application for the Dean’s Scholars Program – Engineering, which provides development through mentoring and networking opportunities with key program partners

career opportunities and employment

For all engineering students, your course design includes industry accreditation requirements.

You can enrol in Work Integrated Learning units as part of your course. Engineering at QUT combines broad foundation principles with a wide range of specialisation choices, giving you flexibility and options.

Your chosen specialisation units allow you to tailor your course to suit your own interests or career aspirations, to pursue a project of special significance to you or of relevance to your profession, and to meet the requirements of professional accreditation. This is your opportunity to develop skills that will help to distinguish you from other graduates.
