What is Computing Systems Engineering?

Computer Systems Engineering involves the design, installation, repair and maintenance of computer hardware, software and associated equipment. It can involve working on projects such as:

  • designing faster modems
  • automating a manufacturing process.

Computer Systems Engineers are engaged in many facets of engineering, science and other technology-based disciplines. They undertake development and maintenance assessments, make recommendations on current computer systems and manage projects and staff.
Businesses worldwide experience a whole range of challenges in areas such as information processing and data transfer, communications, commerce and travel.

Computer Systems Engineering is the use of digital and computing technologies to meet these challenges. Computer Systems Engineers have become pivotal in modern societies that are heavily dependent on digital technologies.

Why choose Computing Systems Engineering at QUT?

Computer Systems Engineering is a rapidly growing field as society becomes increasingly dependent on large information systems. By being exposed to real-world lecturers at QUT,
and completing practical experience, you will receive a thorough grounding in engineering sciences and the handson experience desired by industry and potential employers.

As a QUT Computer Systems Engineering graduate, you will be able to gain provisional accreditation from Engineers Australia, the Institution of Radio and Electronic Engineers and many international professional institutions.
