About the centre

The CRC for Railway Engineering and Technologies is an unincorporated joint venture of Australia's major rail companies and leading universities established and funded by the Commonwealth Government under the Cooperative Research Centre program.

The CRC has 6 themes:

  • 'Smart Train' Intelligent Systems
  • Innovative/Automated Track Maintenance and Upgrading Technologies
  • Optimal Traffic Control and Scheduling
  • Systems and Standards for Rail Management
  • New Materials and Components for Railways
  • Industry Skills Development (Education and Training)

The Faculty of Built Environment and Engineering is a key participant in this project.
