[Print-friendly version]

The Australian Research Centre for Aerospace Automation (ARCAA) is a collaboration of Queensland University of Technology (Airborne Avionics Research Group) and the CSIRO ICT Centre and is funded by the Queensland Smart State research facility fund.

The centre research objectives include

  • Development of a civil autonomous UAV airworthiness framework that can be approved by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA)
  • Development of generic, CASA-approved, UAV platform technologies to allow safe and reliable operations for civilian applications
  • Development of application-specific payloads to meet the requirements of a variety of civilian customers

The purpose of this research and development facility is to remove the impediments to routine civilian operations of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).

Further information

The Australian Research Centre for Aerospace Automation (ARCAA) is to become part of the DaVinci precinct at the Brisbane Airport
