Welcome postgraduate students to 2008!

Last year saw a host of activities which were well-supported and enjoyed by all, organised by the HDR Student Society. This year we have included more activities, including morning teas held in specific areas for students whose research space is in those vicinities. Please support our HDR Society and join in - you will meet new people and enjoy taking a break away from your desk!

Next Event

Following the success of our last event , Badminton in the Gardens, at which over 50 students attended, the HDR Society is arranging another Gardens activity. On Tuesday, 5th August, they are hosting a series of games - badminton, volleyball, soccer, bocce - on the lawns of the Botanic Gardens, near the gazebo adjacent to B Block. Play begins at 11.30am. A BBQ lunch and cold drinks will be served around 12.30pm. Come along and enjoy the winter weather among friends!

Please note: the table tennis facility is open to all HDR students in the Faculty of BEE for social play during normal working hours. Equipment is left there for your use. Please ensure that all rubbish is placed in the bin provided if you are using the facility.

S-Block and P-Block Morning Teas

The first in a series of postgrad morning teas was held in S-block on Tuesday, 11th March, and in P-Block on Thursday, 20th March. Over these two functions, more than 60 postgrads and staff took a break to mingle and enjoy an assortment of cookies, cakes and fruit (and of course, the obligatory shot of caffeine). The informal setting provided an opportunity for postgrads to get out from behind their desks and to get to know their "neighbours" in S-block and then in P & L Blocks.
