To utilise the remote observatories within the global TIE network, the essential requirements are a computer with an Internet connection and an Internet browser. Their is also the option of using a suite of software from Software Bisque (please refer to the company website for minimum computer requirements), but it is not mandatory for operation.

SoTIE Chile Telescope: No special software is required. Access is by standard web browser, such as:
(Microsoft Windows) Netscape, Internet Explorer, Mozilla, FireFox ...
(Linux) Mozilla, FireFox, Opera, Konqueror ...
(MAC's) Safari etc.

NTQO Telescopes: The two Australian 14-inch telescopes located in Queensland will be available shortly after upgrading and can be accessed and controlled via two systems:

  • One telescope will be accessed and controlled by standard browser eg. Netscape, Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Opera, FireFox ... etc. and no special software is required.
  • The second telescope requires "TheSky" Internet Astronomy Software (IAS) IAClient software suite which consists of IAClient, TheSky level IV version 5, and CCDSoft version 4 on a single CD-ROM. They are available at a special discount rate to educators and students participating in TIE. To obtain the discount, callers should inform the sales representative that the software is being purchased for educational use of the TIE telescope. The current educational price for the IAClient suite is $199.00 (USD).
