The Camp - 2008

Purpose of the Camp

Introducing Design is the common First Year unit for all DE40 Bachelor of Design and IT04 Games Design and Interactive Entertainment students. Architecture, industrial design, interior design, landscape architecture and games design all learn about the fundamentals of design together in sessions that take place in Week 5. That means 700 students in 4 sessions of design activities in one, busy week!

The students design an installation and devise a performance in order to learn how to put design into practice. It's a great way to break down the barriers between the different disciplines as well as get to know teaching staff.

Where was it held?

Two sessions take place at Elanda Point, on Lake Cootharaba, behind Noosa. Students camp for three nights along with academic and technical staff. The two other sessions take place in the Botanic Gardens in Brisbane. Either way, students get to experience some intense design action as they get to know each other.
